Lifestyle: Happy Memorial Day!

Hello everyone, hope you had a lovely Memorial weekend. The sky gods were extra kind to us, giving Mountainside glorious weather all three days! We didn't waste it at my house this weekend, taking advantage, we drove over to Dreyer's Farms and bought up a bunch of plants and grasses to fill our garden for the season! Take a look below!

This has to be some of my favorite ground covering in the backyard, it's actually a weed but I love the vibrant hues of green and yellow!

After a day of hard work in the garden we had a great spread of produce we purchased at the Farmer's Market! We also had some fingerling potatoes left over from our family BBQ yesterday, so today we used a simple  herb seasoning of rosemary, oregano and thyme freshly picked from the garden!

For the main course we had lamb chops seasoned with garlic cloves, rosemary and salt & pepper and olive oil!

These pigs in the blanket from Trader Joe's are great, they even have a parmesan crust which is extra yummy!

As I said in one of my previous posts music is a very important part of our everyday life, here is a link to some of the songs we were listening to this weekend, hope you groove out to some (if not all) of these tunes!

Gardening: Go Green

It's almost spring and it's time to start planning your garden! This year go green in both senses of the word. Try planting a vegetable garden to cut down on your carbon footprint, it's also cheaper for you too! I plan on a garden full of Hosta this year so my garden will be a beautiful gamut of greens! Check out some of my inspirations for my garden this year! All photos curtesy of Martha Stewart.

Garage Sale Success!

This past Sunday was the town wide garage sale in Mountainside, I like many bargain hunters went from house to house trying to find something interesting! I was lucky enough to find an old Royal Typewriter at my first stop! Even though the typewriter is no longer functional I still purchased it with another idea in mind, here are some examples of what I plan to do!

What great steals did you get this weekend?

DIY Chalkboard Planting Pots

Here is a great and easy DIY idea that I found on the blog, Design Sponge today. I love chalkboard paint, and the idea of using it as a way to label your plants and Herbs. I'm not sure how well these would hold up in rainy conditions though, so be sure to keep them somewhat covered!  Click here for the full instructions!

Greg Hatton Furniture & Landscape Designs

Like Christoffers, I try to lead a "Green Life" and re-use materials as much as I can. That is one of the reasons that I love Greg Hatton's work so much, not only is his work beautiful, but it is all made out of reclaimed materials and found objects. Check out his blog here! To check out his website, and see more of his work, click on any of the photos above!
