Support the Locals like Amy Merrick

The other day I stumbled across the Brooklyn based florist, Amy Merrick's website. Not only is she a floral designer she is also a writer and stylist (and the occasional teacher out of her Brooklyn studio). Her work has most recently appeared in Kinfolk where she partnered with photographer, Parker Fitzgerald on the cover shoot (the floral ice cream cones). Below are examples of her work, take a look!

Flowers: Bridal Bouquet

Hello all! It's been a busy season here at Christoffers, hope everyone as been having a very happy holiday so far! On a different note here are some photographs of a bridal bouquet that we created recently. I  really love the color scheme, it's rarely used and is therefore all the more special! Yellows, whites and greens are a perfect combination for Spring or Fall Weddings!

Free Bouquets at Christoffers!

We hope this finds you and your families safe and well! I know we feel very fortunate, but Sandy has left us with an abundance of flowers that need a home. Come in for a visit and receive a free bouquet. Bring a friend and they will receive one too! If you know someone who needs their spirits lifted we will give you one for them as well. Please come in and help us spread some cheer! Come in while supplies last.
Thank you,
Kurt, Fiona and Everyone at Christoffers

Nifty Wedding Ideas: Protea Wedding Bouquets

Over the past few days I have been seeing a larger presence of Proteas in bridal bouquets. You might think it odd at first, I know I did. But after discovering some truly beautiful bouquets I had to change my opinion! Here are some different examples of how you can use Protea in your wedding. Click on each photo to see more!

Nifty Wedding Ideas: Baby's Breath

Normally I am not a fan of this particular perennial, but Erin and Parker were able to use it in a classic way, making it dainty, beautiful and above all simple. Many times I watch brides make these decisions to have the most lavish floral bouquets with diamonds or crystals and the size sometimes overwhelmingly large. Remember that most of the time LESS IS MORE! While I wholeheartedly believe that flowers help make the day special, it's important to understand and implement this rule when planning your wedding. Click here for more images of their ceremony!

Gardening: Go Green

It's almost spring and it's time to start planning your garden! This year go green in both senses of the word. Try planting a vegetable garden to cut down on your carbon footprint, it's also cheaper for you too! I plan on a garden full of Hosta this year so my garden will be a beautiful gamut of greens! Check out some of my inspirations for my garden this year! All photos curtesy of Martha Stewart.

Here's a great way to display what this season has to offer, go to your local farmer's market and buy some of the colorful produce, either put it on display or make it part of the meal!

Thanksgiving Decoration Ideas!

Now that Halloween is over, Thanksgiving is around the corner, and it will be here before you know it! Here are some great tips to get your creative holiday juices flowing. All original photos can be found (some with directions) at Martha Stewart's Website. There are some really cool ideas on place cards and center pieces as well!

I love for the kids table putting down a paper runner, that way you don't have to worry about spills! For the younger kids you could put out some markers or crayons and it becomes a canvas after supper!

This is another inexpensive way to decorate your home for the holidays, take some of your candles and wrap wax or tissue paper around them to get that glow!
